Happy Bottoms accepts all size diapers in new or open packages (please put loose diapers in a ziploc bag).

The mission of Happy Bottoms is to collaborate with the community to empower, connect and impact families by alleviating diaper needs in our community distributing diapers to over 70 locations in the metro.

Love Literacy Life (L3)

candy

The SPE community is collecting candy and sweets for holiday treats in our community

from November 2-6.

Love Literacy and Life (L3) is a local organization providing meals to families in need during breaks from school. During the winter holidays, they include sweets and treats in the meal bags, so we’re collecting candy and treats to contribute to those efforts. The mission of L3 is to serve children in Kansas City, Kansas, with LOVE by providing basic necessities and supporting LITERACY in order to ensure a higher quality of LIFE.

Coat & Socks Drive

coat and sock drive

The SPE community will be collecting coats and socks to help the less fortunate in our community December 7-11

The grade that collects the most coats and socks gets a PJ and stuffie day!

Ava's Angels was started by Ava Jones, a former SPE student, when she was eight years old. She created an organization to collect coats, hats, mittens etc. in hopes of families staying warm in the winter. Her hope is to leave a legacy for future SPE students and others to help those in need. The first year, they collected 111 coats; by the sixth year, that number increased to 650 coats. Over the ten years, Ava’s Angels has collected thousands of items each season.  Items may be brand new or used.  Any size is accepted. You can help by donating a new used coat, hat, or pair of mittens (any size).

We've expanded the drive to include warm socks because those are an item that is in demand to keep individuals warm, especially in winter months. All items collected are delivered to Church of the Resurrection and then donated to children that attend inner city schools and others in need in our community.

BV Food Pantry & Community for Kids

food drive

The SPE community will be collecting consumables and other household items to help the less fortunate in our community Dates TBD.

The Blue Valley Food Pantry and Community for Kids are two community food pantries in our area. The BV Food Pantry is staffed by students with disabilities and designed to increase the vocational skills of students receiving special education services in the Blue Valley School District.

Community for Kids works to alleviate food insecurity in the Blue Valley community by providing weekend food packs to those in need.

Scraps KC

school supplies

The SPE community will be collecting school supplies to help reduce waste of usable, lightly used school supplies in our community May 17-20.

Students will have the opportunity to sort through their school supplies and donate them to a great local organization. Keep the cutter from coming home for the summer, and contribute to the community!

The ScrapsKC mission is to provide resources, education and an environment for creative upcycling that encourages change in a more responsible community.
